Feast of St. Bede the Venerable
Confessor and Doctor of the Church
In the Office of Prime for yesterday's solemn Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, the "Canticum Quicumque" - the "Athanasian Symbol/Creed" follows the Psalms before the Antiphon is repeated. The first two strophes profess:
Quicumque vult salvus esse,
Whosoever willeth to be saved,
ante omnia opus est, ut teneat Catholicam Fidem:
must before all else adhere to the Catholic Faith:
Quam nisi quisque integram inviolatamque servaverit,
Which Faith except everyone do keep whole and undefiled,
absque dubio in aeternum peribit.
without doubt he shall perish eternally.
In his homily last Wednesday, Pope Francis stated - as an unabashedly 'Modernist' theologian but not in the capacity of the Sovereign* Pontiff teaching infallibly "ex cathedra" - that "all people, not just Catholics, are redeemed through Jesus Christ, even atheists..."
---
Pope Francis, to begin with, like Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, was not crowned with the Papal tiara - the Roman Pontiff as a mere figure-head-chief-"presider" of the counterfeit/"pseudo-[Church]" (the Neo-Catholic Disorder or the 'official INSTITUTIONAL Church' that was the fruit of the 1789 and 1917 Revolutions (taking 'humanism' for facade) that prevailed in the Second Vatican Council - held from 1962-1965; cf., "The Year 1929", see also "A Perilous 'Catholic' Voyage") can not stand there as the Vicar of Christ clothed with the supreme Apostolic authority promulgating the scripts issued by the "superforce of the anti-Church... lodged in the Vatican" (the late Fr. Malachi Martin, SJ, in our post "The Year 1929") - as can be seen with the use of "I, in virtue of my Apostolic power [at times, "authority"]..." which is not the formal manner by which the Sovereign Pontiff would establish "Acta Sanctae Sedis" (the Acts of the Holy See) - otherwise, he would be stricken dead by the finger of God before he could do so.
---
Pope Francis insists still on the 'Modernist' lie that was once at the very heart of the counterfeit/pseudo-Mass [especially the New 'Mass' the whole of it said in the vulgar/vernacular tongue] invented by a Freemason (Annibale Bugnini, cf., our post "The Catholic Sanctuary... II") - in the Neo-formulary of the consecration of the wine: "... Shed for you and FOR ALL" (nowhere to be found as spoken even by their Neo-Christ in their Neo-Catholic Bibles). In comparison, the "Bible-only" sectarians still insist on the lie Luther inserted into his own Bible version but which was long stricken out in the Protestant Bibles: that "faith ALONE saves" (nothing in the Greek MSS can there be found the word "alone" juxtaposed to "faith").
Why "FOR ALL," we refer the readers to our post "The Ultimate Delusion of Vatican II 'Catholicism'" (see also Cardinal Ratzinger on 'Universal Salvationism' in our post "What is Truth?"). Pope Francis, as with the 'Modernists', dissolves here the theological distinction (of the school of St. Thomas Aquinas - which 'Modernists' hate) established by the dogmatic Council of Trent:
"... If we look to the VALUE of [Our Lord's Passion and Death], we must confess that the Redeemer shed His Blood for the salvation of all; but if we look to the FRUIT [the redemption referred to above] which mankind have received [applied Sacramentally] from it, we shall easily find that it pertains not unto all, but to many of the human race.... When He added, and for many, He wished to be understood to mean the remainder of the elect....
With reason, therefore, were the words 'for all' not used, as in this place the fruits of the Passion are alone spoken of, and to the elect only did His Passion bring the fruit of salvation. And this is the purport of the Apostle [St. Paul] when he says: Christ was offered once to exhaust the since of many [Heb. 9.28]; and also of the words of our Lord in John: I pray for them; I pray not for the world, but for them whom Thou hast given Me, because they are Thine [17.9]." (The Roman Catechism/The Catechism of the Council of Trent, on "The Eucharist", TAN Books 1982 ed., pp. 227-8)
The "catch" according to Pope Francis: "Just do good and we'll find a meeting point." "Catholic Online" (catholic.org) has an interesting 'Modernist' commentary on this point laid down by the Bishop of Rome that serves to 'enlighten' us as to the actual take of the 'Modernist' mind on those fool[s] who [say] in [their] heart: there is no God (Ps. 13.1, DRV) - that "the Holy Father was not teaching anything new[!] In fact this hope that all who do not yet know God are not only capable of doing good - but will progress toward that knowledge of God by doing good [!] - is ancient [!]" The wickedness of atheists (which consists in their very principle: that God manifest Himself as we expect it, "IF God really exists..." - God serving their condition and ends - but God would not, therefore...) is now justified (The Good Goats in our post "The Ultimate Delusion of Vatican II 'Catholicism'") the Neo-Catholic 'Morality'-wise: a fault flowing from ignorance (but Catholic Morality: it must be invincible ignorance). The 'Modernist' justification which, here, takes up the position of "negative atheism"* therefore attacks the Catholic dogma on the natural knowability of the existence of God from created things: "God, our Creator and Lord, can be known with certainty, by the natural light of reason from created things" (De fide) - the First Vatican Council declared: "If anybody says that the one true God, Our Creator and Lord cannot be known with certainty in the light of human reason by those things which have been made, anathema sit [Gal. 1.8]!"
---
* An inculpable and invincible ignorance regarding the existence of God is denied: "not possible for a long time in a normal, grown-up person, in view of the facility of the natural knowledge attested in Holy Writ and in Tradition" (Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma).
---
'Good deeds' are here insisted to be supernatural virtues already (in view of the pseudo-redemption - the 'universalist salvationism' - of the Neo-Catholic 'Theology': the subjects referred to are considered incorporated members of Christ whether they like it or not) when in all reality, under the light of our Sacred Tradition, the good deeds they are still naturally capable of are mere natural virtues not meritorious of eternal life for cut off from Christ they are dead branches to be cast into the fire (cf., Jn. 15.6). Abide in Me [but they would not, rejecting the Faith]... as the branch can not bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I Am the Vine, you the branches... without Me you can do nothing [mere natural virtues are nothing] (Jn. 15.4,5).
Note how, for the 'Modernists', those extra Ecclesiam (those outside the Church) no longer need the light of the Catholic Faith - and therefore of the traditional Catholic Mission - for them to arrive easily with all certainty and without admixture of error at that most saving knowledge of God. But the true God of our Sacred Tradition will have all men to be saved, AND come to the knowledge of the Truth (1 Tim. 2.4). Without this knowledge of and adherence to the saving Truth, deeds of the supernatural Christian virtue of charity meriting eternal life is impossible for truth worketh charity (cf., Gal. 5.6) This is how "Catholic Online" - and any 'loyal' and 'devoted' Neo-Catholic for that matter - ends in trying to prove, following the so-called 'hermeneutic of continuity' of Benedict XVI, that the material contradiction of a sick head (cf., Is. 1.5) is still a truth of our Sacred Tradition: substituting one's 'theologism' - a fable - for the Catholic Faith; one falls into that absurdity of disproving something the absurdity of which is already self-evident!
Let us not be deceived. All [will] be judged who have not believed the truth [what more those who are resisting the truth?] for by refusing and resisting the truth they have consented to iniquity (2 Thess. 2.11) - that is, all their 'good deeds' of kindness and philanthrophy are nothing but iniquity - evil - before the eyes of the true God (cf., also Mt. 7.21-23).
