"Missus est..."

JMJ

Feast of the Annunciation
(transferred from 25th March - Monday in Holy Week)

Ave, gratia plena!

From the Holy Gospel (Lk. 1.26-38) for today's Feast:

... The Angel being come in... (v.28): What could be the disposition of the soul of the Blessed Virgin in which She received the Word of salvation? Her Teresian Carmelite children who look up to Her would answer, in prayer and recollection in silence and solitude - living a consecrated life at the Temple.

Hail, full of grace: Only the Sacred Latin Vulgate Bible and its traditional English translation, the Douay-Rheims Bible, translate the Greek kecharitomene. And not without solid basis: Hail ("Salve!" in Latin) is a military triumphalist* salutation! Of Old (Gen. 3.15), God declared: I will put enmity between thee [the devil] and the Woman [logical reference here was to a Woman other than Eve for Eve, fallen as she already was from her original justice - lost the grace of God - was now a friend, nay, the slave of the devil]. And who should triumph between the devil and the Woman? The Eternal Word Who Is now made flesh (Jn. 1.14) in the womb of the Blessed Virgin foretold of this Her triumph: The Lord hath blessed [me] by His power, because by [me] He hath brought our enemies to nought... The Lord hath directed [me] to the cutting off the head of the prince of our enemies (Judith** 13.22,24). She shall crush thy head (Gen. 3.15). The Angel now reveals who that Woman is.

* The actual reason why the pseudo-Catholic Biblical 'scholars' revised it with "Rejoice" in their bastard versions is that "militant" triumphalism is characteristic of the traditional Catholic Order which insists on the sovereign dominion of Christ the King not only over individual minds and hearts but also over all social-economic institutions and political systems and their governmental organs - all things... in heaven and on earth, in Him (Eph. 1.10); but this until Vatican II: a "New Ecclesial Reality" (as Cardinal Hoyos referred to the New 'Catholic' [Dis-]Order where, in ramming down the throat of the 'conservative' Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) his unilateral choice of a new Superior General for them, he insisted that 'conservative' Seminarians must be "integrated" - so they used to be outside which 'Catholic' Church?), a "pilgrim" "People of God" walking together with men of all sorts of error, under the Freemasonic motto of "brotherhood/fraternity, equality, liberty", searching for truth - a characteristic of the counterfeit Church of the revolutionary dummies and of the media propagandists of the Synagogue of Satan (Apoc. 2.9; 3.9), cf., our post "The Year That Was 1929".

** The Book of Judith, along with the Books of Tobit, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, the Machabees (I and II), portions of the Book of Esther (10.4-16; 14), and portions of the Book of Daniel (3.24-90; 13.14), was left out in the Protestant versions. The "Bible-only" sectarians interestingly repudiated Catholic Tradition yet sustained the later consensus among Talmudic Jewry's scholars in excluding the said books and parts in Jewry's list - a measure not authoritative and definitive in the absence, nay extinction, of Jewish priests (the OT priestly Judaism is dead with its Temple; its perfection and fulfillment is the Catholic Religion with its traditional Sanctuary, cf., our posts "The Catholic Sanctuary prefigured of Old" Part I and Part II). All the while their versions say: "ALL scripture IS INSPIRED" (2 Tim. 3.16). "ALL... INSPIRED" yet the "Bible-only" sectarians now gainsay: "EXCEPT Judith and...!" - how convinced they were of "believ[ing] only what the Bible say."

Full of grace: The Blessed Virgin Mary was given a new name, as it were. In Lourdes, France, She finally made Herself known to Bernadette: "I am the Immaculate Conception." She was full of grace at the moment She was conceived in the womb of St. Anne - God preserving Her, in view of the Incarnation of the Eternal Word Who was with God, and ... was God (Jn. 1.1), from having ever been subject to dominion of the devil. The Eternal Word made flesh this day, foretold of this Her Original preservation and deliverance: The Lord hath not suffered me His handmaid to be defiled, but hath brought me... without pollution of sin, rejoicing for His victory, for my escape, and for your deliverance.... (Jud. 13.20). Therefore the same Eternal Word made flesh sings of Her: Thou art all fair, O My love, and there is not a spot in thee.... One is My dove, My perfect one is but one (Canticle of Canticles. 4.7; 6.8); and, proverbially, many daughters have gathered together riches: thou hast surpassed them all (Prov. 31.29) - hence, the Angel says of Her: blessed art thou among women.

Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and thou shalt call His name Jesus (v.31): Jesus, the Emmanuel (God-with-us) of Is. 7.14. The Eternal Word fulfills His promise through the Prophet Isaias: God Himself will come and save you (35.4).

How shall this be done, because I know not man? (v. 34). Shall ("fiet" in the Latin of St. Jerome's): Sacred Writ puts it in the simple future tense - a simple inquiry as to the miraculous* manner. The bastard modern versions in modal: "How can ["potest" in Latin]...," - their subject now does not believe that God can accomplish it; this contradicts v.45: And blessed art thou that hast believed...

The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee (v.35). The Prophet Isaias foretold of this virgin conception of the Divine Savior: The Lord Himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive (7.14). A sign, that is, a miracle. Mary knew in the Sacred Writ of a virgin miraculously conceiving the Lord Redeemer (Is. 49.7). As to how the Almighty shall accomplish it, the Angel simply states that it is through the exclusive operation of the Holy Ghost and points to the other wonder of the almighty work of the Holy Ghost: Her cousin Elizabeth who conceived in her old age, the sixth month with her that is called barren (v.36) - and this suffices for the Blessed Virgin; no more further inquiry. Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word (v.38).
