Ember Wednesday after Pentecost
I Am the Living Bread which came down from Heaven. If any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever: and the Bread that I will give is My Flesh for the life of the world (from today's Holy Gospel). This discourse of Our Lord on Him as the Living Bread for the life of the world was preceded by the miracle of the multiplication of loaves after which the multitude sought for the Savior Who replies to them: Amen, amen I say to you, you seek Me... because you were filled... (Jn. 6.26).
Alas, many Catholics sought for Our Lord in their churches that they might be filled not with Him and His Spirit (that they might be more and more perfectly conformed to Him - to His mind and heart; that they might be more and more filled with His light and their hearts more and more purified and expanded by the fire of divine love) but with those kind of 'blessings' that actually make them feel good, happy, and 'lucky'. Our Lord Who comes into our midst was appreciated for something else other than Himself. Therefore, a chastisement was prophesied: The Victim and... the continual Sacrifice... shall fail... shall be taken away... and the abomination of desolation shall be set up... in the Holy Place (Dan. 9.27; 12.11; Mt. 24.15) - traditionally, the continual Sacrifice that would FAIL refers to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (cf., the Catholic Haydock Bible in Mt. 24.15); that is, supplanted by the New 'Mass' devised by a Freemason in ecclesiastical trappings (Annibale Bugnini) and is now the norm or "the ordinary" in the Sanctuary (cf., our post "The Catholic Sanctuary... II")! But those blessed Catholics who have the eyes of an "eagle," wheresoever the Body shall be... [there] shall [they]also be gathered together (Mt. 24.28, see the Douay-Rheims Version) - they will be tested as the gold is purified by fire according to the standard of the Crucified: how far will they generously go for their Beloved? Not an easy life for the continuation of the Lord's reply to the multitude bids them: LABOR... for the Meat... which endureth unto life everlasting, which the Son of Man will give you (Jn. 6.27). Labor..., and so now the Eagles must "flee to the mountains" (Mt. 24.16) away from their 'comfort zones'.
